Ice age / Global Cooling

As a Physical Geography degree student, I have researched a number of key areas that suggest our future climate is heading in the direction of global cooling, not global warming.


These areas of studies include:


Ice ages, the gulf stream, solar cycles (especially solar cycle 24), global temperature decreases, and yellowstone national park.


Oh and snowball earth + more


1. Ice ages are part of the earths natural cycle, of which we are currently overdue the next one. In fact the norm here on earth is ice age conditions, we roughly experience 100,000 years of ice age conditions and then 10,000 years of warming. That 10,000 years of warming is now up and I suggest we are returning to ice age conditions, this will not pass us by just because its us, it never has done and never will, as ice cores in greenland going back millions of years clearly show us.


2. The gulf stream has slowed by 30% in recent years, it has even stopped twice in the last several years, showing serious signs that it may be waining, plunging Western Europe in to a new mini ice age. The UK goverment has even issued tens of millions to a programme called Rapid which is constantly monitoring the situation (see below). The last time the gulf stream slowed down, it became so cold that frost fairs was held on the River Thames in London, it never even stopped and look what it was capable of, REMEMBER it has stopped recently.

3. The current solar cycle is struggling to establish itself, the sun is currently blank of sunspots and solar activity is at very low levels, striking fears of huge global cooling on earth, similar to the sporer, maunder, or dalton minimum.

4. The last several years have seen global temperature decreases on earth, equivalent to a return of ice age conditions, it seems like the process has begun.


5. Yellowstone National Park, the home of the supervolcano "caldera". Recent unusually high earthquake swarms may suggest a pending volcanic eruption that would change all of our lives forever resulting in mass death, acid rain, and nuclear winters, this is also overdue im afraid.

6. Snowball Earth, now heres the scary bit everyone!!! The earth was once a snowball earth, life was virtually non existence, for some reason the earths thermostat was broken and nobody knows why?

My research suggests that we are heading for global cooling in a number of different areas, which also includes the earths current tilt / orbit and magentic reversals.

All of the information above is fact and not fiction, you can even research this for yourself.


If you live in the UK, all you have to do is look at the past couple of summers to realise the climate has passed a threshold and changed for the worst, if summers seemed hotter when you was younger, thats because they was. I am therefore going to bravely stick my neck on the line again and say that the met offices prediction of a boiling hot summer is incorrect, and to expect pretty much the same as in previous years. My prediction of a harsh winter throughout the UK as published back in September of 2008 proved correct, when the met office ironically released there winter forecast of a mild winter.

In fact this winter is not even over yet, Europe can expect more freezing temperatures throughout February 09, with widespread heavy snow fall throughout the UK for February 09 aswell... Mark my words we are about to shiver again after the coldest winter in over 30 years... and still I hear the words global warming being mentioned!!!

As for the rest of the world, record snowfalls, record cold temperatures, along with snowfall in the most unusual of places.

Although I have only touched briefly on each area of my research at the moment, the aim of the first blog is to see how much interest and awareness there is in these areas at present, while also welcoming any comments people may have.


I will add further backup and evidence links, and research papers for my future blogs, along with any updates or information with high relevance.


I am no "DOOMSDAYER" the above research never came lightly to me either, I love the sun and warm weather, but we are heading towards a new ice age (FACT). My main fear is the evidence suggesting that all the above may be working in line with each other too. Snowball Earth maybe?


Mankind could survive an ice age with todays technology but we need to adapt now, but im afraid its goodnight to all if we are heading towards the latter.
